Sophie Johnen has been designing the Mya Bay jewellery range as a reflection of her own audacious, slightly crazy yet elegant style.
Modelling her first piece based on the slave bracelet was no coincidence. Her very first memories of jewellery date back to when her grandmother used to give her and women in the family “saccalavabracelets, which are traditional rigid bracelets worn by women from the Indian Ocean.
On the engraved bracelets, rings, earrings and brooches, Sophie has tried to communicate messages that touch her. She looks for positive meanings, with a touch of tchiqueboum her own favourite quote that nobody understands, but sums it all up a personal truth, provoking a reflection, bringing out an emotion¦
Sophie also gets her inspiration from nature, art, Japanese calligraphy and textures. She has conceived a line of jewels that can be mixed together or with other jewels, and that can be worn every day and for any occasion.
